Breaking News: Durban was named one of the New7Wonders Cities of the World in Dubai on Sunday night, beating more than 1,200 nominees from 220 different countries. The other cities are Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Vigan (Philippines), Havana (Cuba), and La Paz (Bolivia). This is another feather in the cap for South Africa as Table Mountain in Cape Town was named a New7Wonders of Nature in 2011.
According to Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders, “TheNew7Wonders Cites will now join the New7Wonders of Nature and the New7Wonders of the World in becoming part of Global Memory for humanity for ever.”
Finally, Durban gets some international recognition! In celebration of Durban’s accolade, here are some of my favourite Durban pictures.
