Review: Premier Inn London Wembley Park

When I was looking for a hotel in London I had three requirements. Firstly, it had to be affordable taking into account our plummeting exchange rate. Secondly, it had to be comfortable as we were going to stay there for a week. Thirdly, it had to be located near the tube.

I soon discovered that hotels in London are expensive and it’s no minor challenge to find affordable rooms large enough for a family of four – especially at the last-minute – as I was doing. I went onto my trusted source – the London forums on TripAdvisor – and asked for recommendations. The Premier Inn brand came highly recommended. It is, after all, the UK’s largest hotel brand with over 700 hotels and is consistently rated as the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain. A quick search on their website revealed that many of their London branches were already fully booked out – a testament to the brand’s popularity. I was fortunate to find availability at the Premier Inn Wembley Park. And the location was perfect. The hotel was just outside the Wembley Park tube station, making travel to Central London a breeze.

The hotel has 154 soundproof rooms ensuring that guests don’t get disturbed by external noise. Our family room was modern, spacious and comfortable and had a double bed as well as two single beds for the kids. The large window looked out on to Wembley. There was a long table with a flat-screen TV, a wardrobe and a coffee-station. The en-suite bathroom had a bath and a shower. There was free wi-fi throughout the hotel. My kids would happily say “Home sweet home” when we got back to hotel after a long day of visiting London’s attractions.

Thyme restaurant offered a hearty buffet breakfast every morning with English and Continental options. Scrambled eggs and cooked vegetables, vegetarian sausages, chocolate pastries and croissants and more were on offer. Of course there was also meat for the meat-eaters. There was an unlimited supply of Costa Coffee, UK’s premier coffee brand and a large variety of tea types.

The restaurant serves lunch, and dinner too.  The dinner was quite popular, judging by the amount of people in the restaurant every evening.

The staff were genuinely warm and friendly and made us feel right at home from the beginning. In fact, some were even from Africa.  When we needed directions, advice or taxis, they went out of their way to help us.

Wembley Stadium

Apart from the hotel’s enviable location next to the tube station, it is a short walk away from Wembley Stadium and London Designer Outlets. Wembley Stadium is the second largest stadium in Europe and the standard playing venue of the English national team. The annual League Cup finals and FA Cup finals are held there. It is a popular concert venue for some of the biggest names in the music world too – such as Coldplay, Rihanna and One Direction.

London Designer Outlet

The London Designer Outlet is a shopping centre offering hugely discounted prices. It promises some great retail therapy. The Wembley area has an abundance of restaurants and fast food outlets to suit every taste, within close proximity of the hotel.

So if you’re looking for good value for your precious pounds, this hotel is a great choice.
