I created the “Travellers’ Tales” section to give other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels on my blog. Today I would like to introduce you to Vanessa, a travel blogger based in Brussels, Belgium. She blogs at Traveling Cats.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself

Meet Vanessa from Traveling Cats

Cuddling a cat in Alberobello

My name is Vanessa Morgan, the founder of Traveling Cats, the first travel blog for cat lovers. On my site, I feature cat-centric destinations, cat cafés, and more. I also authored several supernatural thrillers and horror movie reference guides, some of which have a focus on cats as well. When not writing, you can probably find me dining out, immersed in a book, or attending a film festival. I reside in Brussels, Belgium.

2. What is your earliest travel memory?

My grandparents frequently took me on vacations when I was a child. They were more touristy destinations such as Tenerife or Mallorca, but they are etched in my memory.

3. Where was your last holiday?

I recently returned from a hiking trip in Les Hautes Fagnes, the Belgian Highland. It was snowing, and the views were incredible.

4.What was the best thing you did there?

Snow in Les Hautes Fagnes

The walks through the snow-clad Highland were a highlight. We were also fortunate to stay at an absolutely amazing and cozy hotel, Domaine des Hautes Fagnes. Absolutely recommended.

5.What was your best holiday ever? Why?

The Greek island of Lesvos. It's still a fairly unknown destination, but some areas, such as Molyvos, look as if they are straight out of a fairytale.

6. What is your favourite travel destination?

Molyvos on Lesvos Island in Greece.

7. What is the one thing one must do there?

Molyvos

Molyvos

Make sure to visit the town of Molyvos – it's truly stunning. Despite its compact size, I suggest staying for a few days to fully savor the surroundings, not to mention the exceptional food options. If you're seeking a day of relaxation, be sure to visit the nearby beaches of Petra and Anaxos. And don't miss out on Turtle Pond and the Monastary of Ypsilou.

8. Who is your favourite travel companion/s?

Initially, my grandparents; presently, it's my boyfriend. I also look forward to the day that I can travel with my cat.

9. Name one item you must have when travelling.

That's a tough choice because I tend to travel light and don't require much. However, I'm always hungry and thirsty, so I make sure to have my water bottle and some nutritious snacks with me.

10. Your best travel advice?

Locals often recommend the best and most unexpected places to visit.

11. The one place you want to visit before you die?

Iceland is a place I truly hope to explore.

12. How can people connect with you?

Find me on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Pinterest. The links are on my blog. You are free to post your own travel pictures of cats there.

Thank you, Vanessa , for sharing your fascinating adventures with us!
