Ruby Rose Country House is a lush oasis in Riebeek West, one of the oldest towns in South Africa, just one hour away from Cape Town. Nestled among olive groves and vineyards, it is the perfect escape from 'everyday' life – a gem within a gem.
The Riebeek Valley has long held appeal for artists, seekers of a laid-back lifestyle and self-sufficient professionals thanks to its unhurried and scenic village ambience. It is here among the suburban streets of delightful period homes and the backdrop of the fynbos-covered Kasteelberg Mountain that Ruby Rose Country House has established its loyal following.
The enterprise is the creation of Clive Richardson and architect Gerd Weideman, designer of amongst others, the 2020 World Luxury Awards African boutique hotel winner, O’Two in Mouille Point.
Located in a 4 200m², tree-shrouded garden, the Ruby Rose is a beautifully appointed haven complete with all the modern conveniences for a perfect stay including air-conditioning and high-speed wi-fi.
The heritage-certified manor house is built in the Victorian style, complete with wooden floors and decorative trim typical of the period. The house’s expansive lounge with its deep sofas and classic furniture opens onto a large, shady terrace. Just beyond is the restaurant, with its adjoining swimming pool, and a three-room, self-catering cottage.
Rub Rose is ideal for visitors simply looking for a refined “home base” from which to explore the magical Swartland. The region is characterised by sprawling grain fields, olive groves, orchards and vineyards dotted with quaint farm villages, easily explorable on foot, by bicycle or car. Close at hand are the area’s best restaurants catering for diverse tastes. For those who want to stay active there are hiking trails, biking trails, museums, quaint shops and olive oil tasting.
If you prefer not to venture out you can splash about in the pool, make use of the braai facilities or relax in the tastefully styled outdoor lounge under the shaded veranda and sip on one of our speciality drinks.
Ruby Rose Country House is a versatile venue and can also be used to host weddings, kitchen teas, yoga retreats or painting retreats. It also has the facilities to host small conferences and events.

I would love to win this and it will be greatly appreciated..myself and my husband.are married 5 Years this october known eachother for 20 years,we have 4 beautiful but very busy kids.LOL aged 9,8,4 and 3 year old so we have no time with eachother anymore and tecently a few weeks back my husband fell ill.. they picked up that it was high blood ptessure he was admitted into hospital for a few.days.because he started swelling of water but he is better now getting stronger everyday ..I think this would be perfect for us after all we have been through just to try and reconnect
