Hot air balloon Bill Harrop

Hot air ballooning in Magaliesberg

Win a hot air balloon experience for two with Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris worth over R5000!

There are few experiences more magical than floating in a hot air balloon over a scenic valley as the sun rises. As you drift lazily with the wind, enjoying the panoramic views, the early morning serenity and tranquility is punctuated only by the occasional chirping of birds and the frequent burst of flames into the hot air balloon. You glide over tree tops and float over mountain bikers and sprinting rabbits and you feel a sense of contentment that few other activities can bestow.

It was a magical and surreal experience, one that had been on my bucket list for years. I couldn’t believe that I was finally doing it and not just with any balloon operator. Our charming pilot was the original Bill Harrop , who has been flying people on magical balloon rides since 1981. He entertained us with amusing anecdotes as he expertly navigated the gigantic balloon through the sublime surroundings. After a soft landing an hour later, we celebrated with drinks as we were awarded “citations of bravery”, personally signed by Bill. Read more here.

I am now giving away a hot air balloon experience with Bill Harrop’s Original Balloon Safaris, over the beautiful Magaliesberg area. The prize is worth over R5000 and includes a hot air balloon experience for two and a delectable freshly-cooked breakfast in the Clubhouse Pavilion and Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountains, after landing.

Bill Harrop’s “Original” Balloon Safaris has been operating as a legally licensed balloon Air Transport Service since 1981. It is a family business run by Bill Harrop, his wife Mary, and daughter Sarah working in partnership with over 60 full time, part time, contract and casual staff. Only qualified and experienced professional pilots are employed, and over five-thousand happy passengers a year are testimony to their professional attitude in giving you one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences of your life.

Their fleet of six large hot air balloons can carry between two and eighteen passengers each. 1. I have never done a hot air balloon ride, I hope I will be able to in the future. You gave some great tips. I guess being flexible is very important since indeed, you cannot predict the weather. And also, getting up early gives you the best morning light when you are high in the sky.
