1. Tell us a bit about yourself

I'm a stay at home mommy, home-schooling my little girl. And, as cliched as it may sound, I'm married to my best friend - the one I love the most, and the one I laugh with everyday. I love to travel, and many of the posts on my blog revolve around that. After my first trip overseas, I realized that while travel may mean empty pockets after an amazing holiday, it's also one of the only thing that leaves you truly richer in a larger sense - it opens your mind, and gives you memories which last forever.Charlene from High Heels & Fairy Tales

2. What is your earliest travel memory?

When I was little, we would sometimes drive to Pietermaritzburg, to visit family for a weekend, or longer if it was school holidays. It's only a ninety minute drive from where we lived, but back then it seemed like we were going on a very long trip, and a huge adventure. My parents would put blankets in the back seat, for my little brother and I, and we'd set off early in the morning.

3. Where was your last holiday?

We've only taken little breaks here and there recently, so I guess our last proper holiday was in Mauritius. We stayed at Solana Beach, a resort on the east coast of the island.

4. What was the best thing you did there?

I enjoyed everything there, from relaxing at the resort poolside, to hiring a car and exploring the island. The best though would be the day tour with Dolswim. We set off on a speed boat, into the middle of the ocean to spot and swim close to gorgeous dolphins. We also spent a little time in the gorgeous, shallow water near Crystal Rock, getting a closeup look at this natural wonder. The tour ends with an amazing lunch on Benitiers Island. It's definitely something one should do there.

5. What was your best holiday ever? Why?

We were extremely blessed to go to Europe twice in two consecutive years. Both tie as my best holiday ever. We spent the first holiday in Paris and Hanover (with a day in Berlin), and the second we split between Amsterdam and Paris (and we squeezed in a day in Belgium). Both times we travelled during the European Winter, and there's something magical about those cities at that time of the year.

Whether it was eating hot soup while browsing the winter markets, or just being in awe of well, everything, as we strolled down the Champs Elysees, our little family had the most incredible time on both those holidays, and they will forever be so precious to me.Charlene from High Heels & Fairy Tales

6. What is your favourite travel destination?

Paris. I don't even have to think about this one. I fell in love with the city the moment we arrived. I would go back countless times, were travel more affordable for regular South Africans like ourselves.

7. What is the one thing one must do there?

Go up the Eiffel Tower at night (we've done day as well, but night is my personal preference), and Disneyland Paris. The Eiffel Tower is absolutely magnificent in reality, and the view is breathtaking. And Disneyland Paris... what can I even say? The magic is real. I think I may have spent all my time there smiling, that's just how happy it makes me.

8. Who is/are your favourite travel companion/s?

My husband, and my daughter, Zee.High Heels & Fairy Tales

9. Name one item you must have when travelling.

Comfortable shoes. We enjoy walking around, and taking in new cities that way. And if I may add another, a camera (and enough batteries) to capture absolutely everything.

10. Your best travel advice?

Travel with an awesome guy, who takes to subway maps and routes like he's lived there all his life. 😉

11. The one place you want to visit before you die?

Italy. I've wanted to visit Italy ever since I was twelve years old. It was the Soccer World Cup, and I was crushing on Roberto Baggio. 😀
