If there’s one device I cannot live without, it’s a fitness tracker. I’ve been using them for over a decade now and my preferred brand has always been Fitbit. My last one – a Fitbit Charge 2 - gave up after 5 years of extensive use. It has now been replaced by the new Fitbit Inspire 3, which I am loving.
Fitbit devices have changed our perspective on health by giving us real-time data to monitor and improve our lifestyles. From tracking steps, heart rate, and sleep patterns to providing personalized insights and helping us set health goals, Fitbits are now a big part of getting fit for many people around the world whether you're an athlete or just someone trying to become healthier.
For me, apart from being an imperative tool when hiking and exercising, I wear my Fitbit all day to track the amount of steps I do and earn fitness miles with Discovery Vitality, which I can in turn redeem for other benefits. Of course, it serves as a wristwatch too.
The Fitbit Inspire 3 was released in September 2022. A subtle budget-friendly option with great health-tracking features, it’s been touted as the best Fitbit for beginners. Although I’m not a beginner, it suits my needs perfectly too. The device links to the Fitbit app, which provides important health metrics, and is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

Other features of the Fitbit Inspire 3 include tracking your breathing rate, skin temperature, heart rate variability, stress levels and menstrual health. It reminds you to move when you’ve been inactive for too long, notifies you of calls, texts and app notifications, and helps find your phone if you misplace it.
If you’re looking for a subtle activity tracker offering all the essential features as well as great value for money, then the Fitbit Inspire 3 is a great choice.
If you are in South Africa, the Fitbit Inspire 3 is available at many retailers, including Takealot, Incredible Connection and Sportsmans Warehouse.
November 2023 Update

I have a Fitbit Inspire 3 and I use it for hiking. It is a great accessory!!
That's cool. I don't know how I ever did without it before!
Quite convincing reasons. The only thing I get a little hesitant about is when these products claim to monitor mental health. I would never want to get so obsessed with updating my mental well-being.
Yes, that wouldn't be healthy but it's great for physical health and monitoring sleep.
