I created the Travellers' Tales section earlier this year to give my readers and other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Sindhu Murthy, a travel blogger based in Bangalore, India. She blogs at Interlude Journey.
I would love to hear about your travels too. Go to Travellers' Tales , fill in the quick questionnaire and email it to me with your blog links.
Hello. I am Sindhu- A software engineer by profession and a traveller, blogger and a photographer by passion. I live in Bangalore, India. I love travelling to the most secluded and pristine destinations.
My grandfather was a trainer at the electricity generation board. The institute would arrange tours for the trainees to different electricity generating stations across the state once every 3 months. The trainer’s families could accompany them during the trips and I had accompanied him on many such trips. That is how I visited some of the most secluded destinations and pristine destinations where the general public had no access to.
My latest holiday was quite an adventurous one. I went hiking for a week in the Himalayas to summit the Kedarkantha peak. After returning from the hike, I did white water rafting in River Ganga at Rishikesh.
I had many wonderful experiences – my first encounter with snow, making snowmen, sliding over the snow slopes, and drinking gallons of water to make sure the body does not yield to AMS at high altitudes. Camping at sub-zero temperatures under the blanket of a million stars on a no moon night was another experience that is very close to my heart.
A week long holiday in Lakshadweep has been my best holiday ever. Lakshadweep (literally translating to A thousand islands) is a group of islands located off the west coast of India in the Arabian Sea. As the entry to the island is restricted and a permit is required to enter it, it is mostly off the maps of the tourist circuit in India. The pristine white sand beaches, the deep blue lagoons, the amazing coral reef, plethora of marine life and the safe secluded islands have carved a permanent place in my heart.
I would love to visit Iceland for its diverse landscapes.
Iceland is home to some of nature’s best phenomena. The Northern Lights, geysers, mountains, ice caves, volcanoes, waterfalls, architecture and the beautiful cityscapes- oh the list goes on!
My favourite travel companions are my son and my husband. My son who is 4 years old loves to travel as much as I do.
There are 3 actually : chap stick, sun screen and camera.
Pack light. Be a responsible traveller. Leave no trace at the places you travel to.
