Travellers’ Tales – Meet Ivy from Kollecting Koordinates

Spread the love

I created the “Travellers’ Tales” section to give my readers and other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Ivy, a travel blogger based in Canada.
Visit her blog at Kollecting Koordinates.

I would love to hear about your travels too. Go to “Travellers’ Tales” , fill in the quick questionnaire and email it to me with your blog links.

Read about Ivy’s travels here,

1. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello! I’m Ivy, the ordinary gal behind Kollecting Koordinates who wants to see the world without giving up the 9-5 grind. I was born in Taiwan but I’ve lived in Canada most of my life; it’s nice to be able to call both countries home! My blog is the product of a two-man team which consists of myself and my perma-travel buddy/IG-husband. Our goal is to inspire others with fulltime jobs so that they too can experience the world with limited funds and vacation days.

2. What is your earliest travel memory?

My parents took my brother and I to the US (Yosemite, LA, Las Vegas, and San Francisco) when I was 6. That was my first time on an international flight and I wanted to do arts and crafts to kill time on the long plane ride. Good thing my mom checked my little carry-on backpack because I had packed scissors!

3. Where was your last holiday?

We visited Central America for the first time in December 2016. We were in Guatemala and Belize for just over 2 weeks.

4. What was the best thing you did there?

Nothing. Doing nothing was the best thing we did! Our favourite part was chilling out at our resort at Lake Atitlan. We stayed in an awesome eco-bungalow with 3 amazing dogs who kept us entertained.Kollecting Koordinates

5. What was your best holiday ever? Why?

That’s a toughie! It’s a toss-up between Croatia and Bali. I loved the scenery and coastal towns of Croatia. Bali is hard to beat because of its affordability, amazing food, Mother Nature, and scuba diving.

6. What is your favourite travel destination?

Bali for the reasons above. We liked it so much that we’ll be revisiting this fall!

7. What must one do there?

Scuba dive, eat, live like a king in villas, chill at infinity pools, hike, chase waterfalls… the list goes on!

8. Who is your favourite travel companion/s?

My husband! I wouldn’t go anywhere without my perma-travel buddy.

9. Name one item you must have when travelling.

My phone- with data/WiFi. Taking pictures and using it to search for tips and reviews aside, it’s important for me to stay in touch with my parents at all times. We live in different countries so we need to stay connected especially when I’m traveling.Kollecting Koordinates - Mostar (002)

10. Your best travel advice?

Talk to locals. The one thing that really sets certain travels apart from others is the people we meet. You’ll understand the place and its culture on a much deeper level, and learn things that you can’t find on the internet. The best part? All the people from different backgrounds you get to befriend along the way!

11. The one place you want to visit before you die?

I’d love to go on a safari in Tanzania one day. We also want to dive the Darwin & Wolf Islands in the Galapagos when we become more experienced divers.

12. How can people connect with you?
