I created the “Travellers’ Tales” section to give other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Delphine, a travel blogger based in Australia. She blogs at LesterLost.
I would love to hear about your travels too. Go to “Travellers’ Tales” , fill in the quick questionnaire and email it to me with your blog links.
My name is Delphine, I am from Paris and I have been living in Australia for 20 years. Sydney is my home. I am a traveller and a maker, which means that I love to explore new destinations but I also spend time at home crafting and sewing… A little unusual, I guess!
My parents took me to Morocco many times, starting when I was very young. I have mnemonic memories of orange flowers in the garden, spices, leather and wood in the medina of Marrakesh. I travelled young, first with my parents, then visiting friends, then backpacking on my own. And now, I am reconnecting with travel.
I actually went on a three-week road trip to Morocco with my father. We revisited places we knew, caught up with lifetime friends and admired how much Morocco is developing. It was busy and fast-paced, with chilled moments in Casablanca and Marrakesh, my style of holiday!
I loved the driving. It would seem challenging to some people but I felt really at ease and I loved the autonomy it brought us. The roads in Morocco are a lot better than they used to be so it’s a great way to travel. Not being limited to a tourist bus, it was also a great way to connect with people.
My husband and I honeymooned in the South Island of New Zealand. I found the scenery absolutely stunning… Skydiving over Lake Wakatipu was a highlight!
That’s a hard one… I come from France, I keep going back to Morocco and I live in Australia… I love going back to New Zealand though, it’s pristine and easy to travel around. And it’s only three hours from Sydney…
A road trip and adventure stuff: skydiving, hiking, rafting… Anything that involves nature. New Zealand is fabulous for active holidays…
I usually travel with my husband or my father. I love the companionship and making memories together. However, I took some short trips on my own recently and absolutely loved the freedom of it…
I won’t go anywhere without my Nikon camera. I love taking photos for the blog, so I can share the beautiful sights…
Be humble, be curious, do what you feel is right for you. Don’t let people or fashion dictate what you should do or where you should go. Travel is the ultimate freedom. It’s also the best way to learn and practice gratefulness.
Ah, there are so many… I dream of a road trip through the United States, finishing in New York… I am also fascinated by Japan.
