Travellers’ Tales – Meet Kelly and Dwayne from Trippin Turpins

I created the “Travellers’ Tales” section to give other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Kelly and Dwayne, travel bloggers from Australia and New Zealand. They describe themselves as intrepid sailors, perpetual travellers, bold explorers and lovers of food. They blog at Trippin Turpins .

I would love to hear about your travels too. Go to “Travellers’ Tales, fill in the quick questionnaire and email it to me with your blog links.

Read about Kelly and Dwayne’s travels here,

1. Tell us a bit about yourselves

We are from Australia and New Zealand. In May 2014 we sold almost everything we owned and moved aboard “Thorfinn” our 45 foot yacht. Leaving South Australia, we have sailed up the East Coast of Australia, through Indonesia, to Malaysia and Thailand. By land we have visited Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and of course Australia and New Zealand (since we began this journey).Trippin Turpins

2. What is your earliest travel memory?

Kelly – My first trip back to New Zealand to visit family when I was six years old.

Dwayne – Camping in the Coorong National Park when I was five years old.

3. Where was your last holiday?

We are currently visiting Napier in New Zealand – Art Deco capital of the world and a beautiful seaside town.Trippin Turpins

4. What was the best thing you did there?

The Art Deco Festival was absolutely fabulous. The street art and nearby forest trekking also deserves a mention!

5. What was your best holiday ever? Why?

In 2004, we packed up the four wheel drive, hooked on the fishing boat and travelled around Australia. For a year, we lived in a tent. This was an amazing year. We saw so much of Australia and met some awesome people!

6. What is your favourite travel destination?

That is a tough one. We have loved every place we have visited for one reason or another. Cruising (with our yacht) though Indonesia was unreal and we really love Bali – so we will say Indonesia.

7. What must one do there?

Visit the orang-utan in Borneo!Trippin Turpins

8. Who is your favourite travel companion/s?

Each other!

9. Name one item you must have when travelling.

A camera – we love the memories we can capture with it!

10. Your best travel advice?

Travel whenever you can. Don’t put it off until it is too late. The world is an amazing place – go out and explore.Trippin Turpins

11. The one place you want to visit before you die?

We would love to visit Victoria Falls!

12. How can people connect with you?
