Today I would like to introduce you to Thalia and John, a Vlogging couple based in Kleinmond, near Cape Town. They are the first South African vloggers on my series and they vlog about their travels at Thalia and John .

1. Tell us a bit about yourself

We are Thalia and John, a Youtube Vlogging couple from Kleinmond, just outside Cape Town. We have been together for 3 years, and are about to get married. We both have a passion for music (John has had his own DJ’ing company for over 21 years, and Thalia is a double qualified sound engineer, and has worked with John for 3 years as a DJ), travelling, vlogging, and cats. We are also an age gap couple, John being 42 and Thalia being 26.

2. What is your earliest travel memory?

John’s family had a holiday home in Hermanus, where he spent his summer holidays every year. He would enjoy time body boarding, playing cricket and tennis, whale watching, and soaking in the relaxing atmosphere. Thalia comes from a family that did a great deal of travelling. Her first holiday was a camping trip when she was 6 weeks old (brave parents!). The first trip she remembers is going to Zimbabwe (where her parents are from) and spending time swimming and playing with her cousins, and enjoying time with her grandparents.

3. Where was your last holiday?

We went to East London for 4 days (Thalia is from there - it was John’s first time). See their East London Holiday Vlog here.

4. What was the best thing you did there?

We had a great time exploring the museum, playing putt-putt, and drinking popular “Friesland” milkshakes. But the best thing was being able to show John around the place that Thalia grew up in.

5. What was your best holiday ever? Why?

Our favourite holiday so far has been a visit to Hermanus in 2014, which was what made us decide to move from the big city (Cape Town), and live in the calmer, more serene Overberg.

6. What is your favourite travel destination?

We are big fans of camping, and recently went on a trip to Dibiki Holiday Resort in Mossel Bay, which was wonderful!! Their facilities are top notch and we had a whale of a time.

7. What must one do there?

We really enjoyed visiting the Bartholomew Dias Museum, followed by fish and chips at the Red Bus in the Harbour.

8. Who is your favourite travel companion/s?

Of course one another! It is a difficult thing to find a great travelling companion, and we are very lucky to have that in one another!

9. Name one item you must have when travelling.

Our Vlogging cameras are a must.

10. Your best travel advice?

Just relax, you don’t have to see it all, just enjoy the steps you wander 

11. The one place you want to visit before you die?

We would love to travel to North America, and do a Motor Home trip from East to West Coast.
