I created the “Travellers’ Tales” section to give my readers and other travellers an opportunity to talk about their travels. Today I would like to introduce you to Samantha, a travel blogger and pilot’s wife based in Seattle, Washington, USA. Visit her blog at Have Seat, Will Travel: Adventures of a Pilot’s Wife .
I would love to hear about your travels too. Go to “Travellers’ Tales” , fill in the quick questionnaire and email it to me with your blog links.
Hi my name is Samantha and I’m 28. I run “Have Seat Will Travel: Adventures of a Pilot’s Wife”. I live in Seattle, Washington with my husband and our 8 year old corgi. I’m a Disney nerd who loves traveling and writing all about it!
When I was about four, my family went to Oahu, Hawaii. I remember feeding the fish at Hanauma Bay and running in and out of the waves on Waikiki beach. Growing up, we went once a year and it felt like our home away from home.
We went to Costa Rica in January!
The time we spent in Manuel Antonio was my absolute favourite. We saw tons of monkeys and a few sloths. The beaches were the most gorgeous things I’ve ever see and the ocean was so warm! The food in Manuel Antonio was the best we had our entire trip, I called it a foodie’s paradise. We tried to eat somewhere new for every meal, and it was always delicious.
I think the best trip we ever took would have to be Australia. It was my first major international trip, on my own, as an adult. Australia had always been my dream. I packed our itinerary to the max and somehow everything worked out miraculously. We were always exactly where we needed to be when we needed to be. We had a snorkelling trip planned and the day we went the staff told us weather had been awful up until that day and we lucked out. The weather turned bad the very next day so we were truly lucky!
Disneyland. Maybe that’s cheesy but I go once a year to a Disney park somewhere in the world, usually it’s Disneyland. I grew up going once a year and I get the itch to go if it’s been a while!
Eat at Bengal BBQ, get a Dole whip and ride all of the rides, of course. They put so much detail into everything they do, sometimes I just like to wander and take in all of the architecture (and look for hidden mickeys).
My husband. I am directionally challenged so anytime we emerge from a subway I just look at him. He’ll always point me in the right direction! He also manages to keep me laughing in tricky situations.
Noise cancelling headphones. They’re an absolute necessity for flying. You never know when you’ll be seated near an unhappy baby and my headphones are a one way ticket to quiet bliss.
Be present. When we’re traveling I use my phone for taking pictures and getting directions. That’s it. It’s amazing how much more you’ll experience if you’re fully aware of your surroundings.
Greece! I love Greek mythology and all of the islands look like a dream!
Thank you, Samantha , for sharing your fascinating travels with us!
