Hi, my name is Cosette and I’m a 41 year old travel blogger, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I have a MA in history. Together with my husband I have explored Europe, North America and the Middle East. I simply love road trips and luckily our son does too. I’m a foodie and love books.
Arriving at our holiday rental park in Belgium. My parents couldn’t find it right away, so it was already dark when we finally got there. Seeing the lights from afar was so welcome. It was cold (it had snowed) and we were really glad we finally found it. I was about 6 years old and my sister 1 year old, and it was our first vacation.
This summer we made a road trip through The Netherlands, covering the provinces Noord-Brabant, Gelderland, Drenthe, Friesland, Overijssel, Utrecht and Zeeland. The last place I traveled to outside The Netherlands was Carinthia in Austria in February.
In The Netherlands it was doing a tour on an electric chopper in Drenthe. Loved touring around this way. In Carinthia it was visiting the Dobratsch Nature Park. Loved the vistas and the snow on the mountains.
Hard to choose, but the 6 week road trip from NYC to San Francisco stands out. It was the best since at the end all 3 of us just wanted to keep on driving. We made so many good memories from driving the Blue Ridge Parkway to meeting up with friends in Texas.
In Europe it’s Croatia, worldwide it’s the USA. Croatia has blown my mind with the great atmosphere, the beautiful coastline and many things to explore. USA is the land of endless roads: you can make a thousand road trips with a diversity of landscapes.
In Croatia at least visit Zadar. Furthermore visit Dubrovnik, the Plitvice lakes and drive along the coast. Buy fresh produce and honey at a stall along the road. Visit one of the many islands. In the USA make a road trip, drive highway 1, visit the National Parks and explore NYC. And go to Disney World and a waterpark.
My husband Paul and our son Yuri. We love a lot of the same things like museums, history, road trips, reading and local food.
A passport, my camera and a book.
First, go out and explore every chance you get, even if it’s your neighbourhood. Second one is check reviews before booking a hotel. We didn’t do that once and ended up in a bad neighbourhood in town, with large groups gathering close by on the streets and people smoking crack outside the door of our hotel.
The polar bears in Churchill Manitoba in Canada. But I must say my bucket list is long so next week visiting Easter Island, the Galapagos islands, Australia or Egypt could be on top.
People can connect with me through my blog KarsTravels.com or through Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram.
Thank you, Cosette , for sharing your fascinating adventures with us!
